Linda Cerullo Obituary
A woman with a heart of gold, Linda Jayne Cerullo passed away on April 13, 2022, less than three weeks after her 81st birthday. Linda was born and raised in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, moved to Staten Island in 1969 and settled in Great Kills, where she raised her three children. Before starting her family, Linda worked as an Assistant Buyer of Toys at J.J. Newberry Company and later in the Business Office of the former New York Telephone Company. In the early 1980's she joined the family business Owl's Head Service in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn as it's office manager and bookkeeper. Throughout her life she was focused only on caring for others and hosting family gatherings, whether for a holiday or for no reason at all, making them as special as they could be. When not with family and friends, she enjoyed watching cooking shows, despite the fact that she could teach any television chef a thing or two; and also enjoyed crushing crossword puzzles. "My Aunt Linda, or 'Auntie' as I called her, filled any room she was in with love and laughter," said her nephew, Fred Cerullo. "She prioritized everyone in her life -- whether family or friend -- over herself and she was fiercely loyal to everyone she loved. She was the quintessential daughter to my grandparents and sister to my Dad and mother to my cousins," he said. "And to my sister, brother and myself a rock of love and support throughout our lives. Every generation of our family -- old and young -- has been touched and enhanced by her being in our lives. She will be missed by us all more than words can say." Linda adored her three children, Charles Cerullo (Cara), William Diaz (Kari) and Laurie Diaz (James Luciano), and her two grandchildren, Erik William Diaz and Anna Therese Cerullo, who brought her such joy. She is also survived by her nephew and Godson Alfred C. Cerullo III, niece Elizabeth Bruno (Dr. James) and nephew Scott (Victoria), and great nephew Thomas and great niece Elizabeth who were like children and grandchildren to her and who will all miss her so deeply. She is predeceased by her parents Alfred C., Sr and Anna Zanazzi Cerullo, and her brother and sister-in-law Alfred C., Jr. and Elizabeth Russo Cerullo. Visitation will take place Monday, April 18, from 5PM-9PM at Casey Funeral Home (Slossen Avenue) with a Mass on Tuesday, April 19th at 9:45 at St. Clare's Church (Nelson Avenue) to be followed by burial at Moravian Cemetery.
