Louis S. Arena Sr., 88, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 24th, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Manhattan to the late Luigi and Cecelia, he moved to Huguenot in 1942. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School. He worked for A&P on Main Street in Tottenville as a delivery boy and worked his way up to store manager until he left in the late 70's. He also worked for Waldbaum's as a store manager before leaving in 1985 to own and operate a delicatessen in Westerleigh with his children. Louis married the love of his life, "his Honey" the late Dorothy Arena (nee Glembocki) in 1956 and were married for 61 years until Dorothy passed away in September 2017. He also served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America in Korea as a Sergeant from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1964. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Richmondtown since 1962. He was adored by all that knew him. Louis was a loving father to Paula Glegg (Stephen) and Christopher (Luree) and the late Louis Jr (Michele), who passed away in 2009. He also adored his six grandchildren Christopher Jr, Zachary, Diana, Louis III, Michael, and Alexander. Funeral will be at Colonial Funeral Home, 2819 Hylan Blvd. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 28 from 4-8 PM followed by a Service on Wednesday, March 29th at St. Patrick's Church in Richmondtown.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Arena family and extended family. A great man will be grieved upon earth by his loved ones and missed terribly always by Chris and Paula, a father so beautifully generous and a good hearted man to all, a man who was ever so truly devoted to his wife. She was his happiness and he was hers. They loved their children and made beautiful memories on birthdays and holidays with their delicious food for them and their grandchildren and the people who they let into their world. No one could cook a burger or steak like Lou. No one could make creamed scalloped potatoes or a meat sauce like Dorothy. The food cooked by both showed their love and appreciation toward others. True Soulmates. A man like none other I´ve met of his kind so devoted to the love of his life. He is now at peace, he is with her and in the presence of divinity forever more. May God Bless them both and may their love surround, nourish, strengthen and be with their children, grandchildren and all they hold dear.
