Marie 'Nanny' Daly
July 23, 1929 - June 2, 2018
Marie was called eternally home on June 2, 2018, while comfortable and surrounded by her loved ones. She was the matriarch of her family.
Marie was born in Chelsea, New York City, on July 23, 1929, to Elizabeth and Peter Marasco, completing her family of two older brothers, John and James, and two sisters, "Millie" and "Sissy."
Marie moved to Staten Island with her husband, William, in the mid 1950's, and to New Dorp Beach in the mid 60's, where she remained, raising her family of two kids.
Her daughter, Patricia Buss Czirr, passed away in 1997, and her son, William Daly, became paralyzed in 1979 at the age of 24. Marie proudly dedicated her life to caring for her son for 33-1/2 years until he passed away. Family was everything to Marie. She loved cooking amazing Italian dishes for us. Her granddaughter, Anne, dedicated her life, heart and soul to being the caregiver for Marie and her disabled son.
Marie's hobbies were gambling and reading.
Marie was also predeceased by her grandson, William Buss. She is survived by her two granddaughters, Anne Czirr and Tara Silverio; grandson, Matthew Czirr; and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Nathaniel, Jocelyn, Aidan and Sophia.
Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hanley Funeral Home. Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Peace.
