Her smile lit up the room Mary Bruno Pansarasa, a beloved mother, daughter and wife, passed away Thursday at the age of 46. Mary's smile would light up any room she walked into and her infectious laugh could instantly raise your spirits. Her son, Michael, was her entire world and the thing she loved most was being a mom. Born on Staten Island, she graduated from New Dorp High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from St. John's University in Queens and later went on to receive her Master's in Education. It would come full circle when Mary began working at her alma mater, New Dorp, where she taught history for over 20 years. It's no secret that she was easily the most liked teacher and her coworkers loved working alongside her too. Mary put her family above all and absolutely adored her doting husband. She also had an extremely special relationship with her mother, as their bond was indescribable. She looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her cousins, and her sense of humor often was the highlight of any family gathering. Mary also enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and was a big animal advocate. She is survived by her loving husband, Charlie Pansarasa, her children Michael, Isabelle and Carl, her mother Gail Jastremski. Services are being handled by Hanley Funeral Home. Visitation is Monday and Tuesday, October 25th and 26th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Peace. My first social studies teacher in New Dorp, and the best teacher I ever had. The one teacher who would listen to everything and anything you had to say. I would go into Mrs. Bruno´s classroom just to rant to her about another teacher and it was not like I was talking to another teacher, but a friend. She was not just a great teacher, but a wonderful human being. You will be truly missed, Mrs. Bruno.

We remember Mary as a teen when we lived in New Dorp and she would visit as she was our daughter´s friend. Way too soon, we will always remember her fondly. God bless her mom, husband and children.
