Matthew A. Carrara Enjoyed painting and traveling with his wife and friends Matthew A. Carrara, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was born June 9th 1932 in Staten Island, N.Y., to Emmanuele and Rose Carrara. He graduated from PS 17, Curtis High School & attended N.Y. Phoenix School of Design. In 1951 Matthew joined the U.S. Navy and served 4 years in the Air Squadron VR 22 in Norfolk VA. After an Honorable discharge he had a long career working at Georgian Press in Manhattan as an Art Director and Free-Lance Artist. Matthew spent most of his life on Staten Island. He loved painting and traveling with his wife and friends, especially to Italy where he had family. He was a member of the American Legion and Sons of Italy. Matthew is survived by his wife of 63 years Rosemarie Carrara; loving father of Mark, Matthew Jr., Monica and David; devoted grandfather of Kassandra DeMaio, Gabriella, Michelle, Andra, Nicholas, Justin, Samantha, Ta and Lia. Cremation at Yates Funeral Home to be followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie at a later date.
