Michael J. Paura

Michael J. Paura June 20, 1922 - Aug. 24, 2021 Michael Paura was born in Acri, Italy in the region of Calabria on June 20, 1922. He arrived in New York on December 23, 1932 at the age of 10. He passed away on August 24, 2021 on Staten Island. Mike is a much honored and decorated infantryman and marched through Europe during WWII, winning the Bronze Star for heroism and earning the Purple Heart Cluster. He was the loving husband of the late Rose (nee DiDonato). He is survived by two of his three daughters, Catherine and Angela. Grace, his third daughter, predeceased him in July of 2019. "Poppy" leaves behind many nieces and nephews, six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren whom he adored and who adore him. Poppy leaves a legacy of love of his family and his country. Services were held at Scalia Funeral Home on Staten Island on Saturday, August 28th, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Clare's Chapel on Staten Island.
