Miguel Antonio Martinez Miguel Antonio Martinez, affectionately known as "Tonio" or "Mike", passed Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the age of 93 years old with his family by his side. Miguel was a retried Foreman for Sun Chemical where he worked for 40+ years. He was an A1 Mechanic, Licensed Welder, and a respected Teamsters Union Shop Steward. Miguel was known for, and greatly valued, an impeccable work ethic and hard work. He was a well-respected neighbor, known for always lending a helping hand. Miguel was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico in March of 1928 where he lived until the age of 22 before moving to Staten Island, New York (with only $5 dollars in his pocket) where he resided for 71 years. Miguel was a man of self-discipline who taught himself how to read and write English using the newspaper. He loved being outside maintaining his property and working with his hands. He was a man that defied adversity by proving people wrong (especially his Doctors). He is survived by his sons Michael Martinez Jr. & Apostle Ruben Martinez as well as a multitude of Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, Great-Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his son Santos & daughter Lourdes "Cookie" Martinez. Services at Harmon Funeral Home, 571Forest Ave, S.I., N.Y. 10310. Visitation Friday, July 9th 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Burial Saturday 9:30 a.m. We will have a procession around Grandpa's house then to St. Peter's Cemetery.
