Rachel T. Zagaria

A positive and spiritual person who enjoyed life Rachel T. Zagaria O.F.S., 84, passed away on October 12th, 2021. She was the beloved mother of Maryann Zagaria (Michael Migliore), Joann Di Bartolo (Charles), Diane Rice, and CarolAnn Zagaria; and the grandmother of Christopher & Joseph Rice, and Deanna & Michael Di Bartolo. Rachel was born and raised in Brooklyn, before moving to Staten Island in 1972. She retired from Staten Island Savings Bank. Rachel was a world traveler, and her main focus was family, friends, and her love for her grandchildren. Later in life, she continued her education and belonged to several organizations, including the Franciscan Order. Rachel volunteered and taught CCD at St. Patrick's Church. She volunteered for the Mass at Eger Nursing Home, read to the blind, and worked with autistic children. Rachel was an avid reader and took time during the pandemic to write her autobiography. She was a positive and spiritual person who enjoyed her life. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. Tuesday, departing at 9:15 AM. Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's R.C. Church at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
