Robert Miuccio Sr., 76
FDNY battalion chief, first responder at Ground Zero
Robert Miuccio Sr., FDNY battalion chief, died Thursday, July 12, 2018, after a long battle with 9/11 related cancers.
Robert was born April 16, 1942, in Staten Island. During his childhood, he lived in Stapleton, Tompkinsville and South Beach. He went to Brooklyn Tech High School and then joined the United States Air Force. While stationed in Cape Cod, he met the love of his life, Linda Lee Yarbrough, whom he married three months later. The couple moved to Robert's native Staten Island and raised their three children, Robert Jr., Michael and Jacqueline, at their home in Westerleigh.
Robert joined the FDNY in 1968 and retired in 2007. During his career, he was assigned to L45, L113, L147 and Batt 22.
In March of 2016, he was diagnosed with 9/11 related cancers, as he was a first responder at Ground Zero. Robert's brother, Richard, perished in the terror attacks, but Robert continued for the next three and a half months leading firefighter efforts to recover the remains of the dead.
Robert was a longtime parishioner and usher at Holy Family Church.
His wife, Linda, passed away in 2009. He was the dear brother of Mary Urs and the late Richard Miuccio, who was killed in 9/11.
He is survived by his three children, Robert Jr., Michael and Jacqueline; his two grandchildren, Sabrina Lynn and William, his daughter-in-law, Christine, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the FDNY Fire Family Transport or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The world has lost a special man. Bob (always to me, Mr Miuccio ☺) was our neighbor growing up in Westerleigh and he, Linda, Jackie, Robbie and Michael were a special part of our lives. I remember him as quiet and strong and devoted to his family. My love and condolences to Jackie, Robbie, Michael and all of Bob's family. You are in my heart.
