Rudy DiGeorgio

Rudy DiGeorgio Battalion chief, loving husband, father, and grandfather Rudy DiGeorgio, of Great Kills, passed away on September 5, 2021 at S.I. University Hospital North at the age of 91. Rudy proudly served his Country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Corporal. After he was honorably discharged from the service, he worked as a printer for a company in Manhattan. In 1960, Rudy joined the New York City Fire Department, rising through the ranks, and retiring as a Battalion Chief. He loved his career with the Fire Department and in 1988 he retired from Battalion 23 in Great Kills. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, which he did up until two years ago, and you could always find him in Atlantic City, which he was a regular at. Above all, family was number one to Rudy and always came first. He treasured time spent with his family and his extended family. Rudy was the beloved husband of 66 years to Elaine. Loving father to Donna Errico, Janice Connolly (Mark), Rudy DiGeorgio, Paul DiGeorgio (Catherine) and Douglas DiGeorgio. Dear brother to Elvira Todisco. Devoted grandfather to Robert, Anthony and Victoria, Thomas, Paul and Danny. Cherished great-grandfather to Adrianna. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10312. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Cremation will be private.
