Salvatore C. Minucci

Air Force veteran, computer systems executive, and family man who was 'everyone's favorite Santa Claus', 72 Salvatore C. Minucci, 72, passed away on September 9, 2021 at Staten Island University Hospital North. Born and raised in Dongan Hills, Sal moved to South Beach in 1976. He graduated from Msgr. Farrell High School and, after attending college on Staten Island, Sal joined the United States Air Force. He served in Thailand from 1968 to 1970 as an airplane mechanic and was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant. Sal even met his beloved wife of 44 years, the former Dorothy Russell, while training for the Air Force in Kentucky. They're first date was the Kentucky Derby. Sal worked for Spear, Leeds & Kellogg, a brokerage firm located at 120 Broadway in NYC as their Vice President of Computer Systems and Operations, retiring in 2002. Sal was an avid NY Yankees baseball fan and enjoyed reading and collecting model military airplanes. He also enjoyed taking road trips with his wife, usually to the Carolinas. Sal loved decorating and shopping for the Christmas Holiday. He was everyone's favorite Santa Claus. "Dad truly loved his children and grandchildren, said his sons. " He was a caring and compassionate man who had a quirky sense of humor. He liked puns, riddles and telling "Dad jokes." Salvatore C. Minucci was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy "Dot" Minucci (nee Russell) who passed away in 2014. He was the loving father of Matthew and his wife Katherine, Daniel and Stephen and his wife Mary. He was also the cherished grandfather of Hannah, Jacob, Lucy and Christopher and was the dear brother of Linda (John) King, twins Nicholas (Robin) Minucci and Nancy (Tom) Proulx, Donna Orichio and Michael Minucci.
