Shirley Laurentiev

1929 - 2022

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Former Staten Islander Shirley Laurentiev (nee Baier) passed peacefully on Saturday October 29, 2022 at the Baptist Home at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck NY. The daughter of the late Frederick and Maude Baier resided on Staten Island for most of her life. Shirley was a 1947 graduate of New Dorp HS and was married to the late John Laurentiev, with whom she had two children. Shirley was an active member of the Church of St. Andrew in Richmondtown, where she was on the Altar Guild. She was also a member and former treasurer of the Episcopal Church Women. She worked on the church Holiday Fair for more than 20 years, chairing the Toy Table. Shirley was also a long-time member of the Eastern Star. Shirley was predeceased in 2005 by her husband John, and she is survived by daughter June Main, with whom she lived in Kingston NY. Also survived by son John Laurentiev Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Hyde Park, NY and 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Interment will be held on November 21, 2022 at 11 AM at the Church of St. Andrew. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
