Thomas Francis Lloyd

Navy Veteran, Assistant DA, Beloved Father & Grandfather, 88 Thomas Francis Lloyd, age 88, of Rixeyville, VA passed unexpectedly on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. He was born on September 13th, 1934 in Bayonne, New Jersey, son of the late Joseph and Rose (McCole) Lloyd. The family moved to Staten Island NY in 1943. Here he graduated from Wagner College in 1957. Tom then served as radio operator in the US Navy before going on to receive his legal degree (JD) from St John's University in 1961. Settling down in Great Kills, he married the former Carol Ann Gill. He served as lector and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Child RC Church. Tom possessed a strong tenor voice and sang at every opportunity. No family function was complete without a rousing rendition of Danny Boy and The Town I Loved So Well. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club and worked to support "A Special Place" for those who were mentally handicapped. His legal career spanned 44 years with most of it serving as Assistant District Attorney in the RIchmond County office. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1963, and to the United States Supreme Court in 1975. In private practice for a few years, he returned to public service at the District Attorney's office. Dad served under three RIchmond County DA's: William Braisted, Thomas Sullivan and William Murphy retiring in 2002. Thomas is survived by three children, Katherine Adams (John) of Rixeyville, VA, Robert Brix Iver Lloyd (Caroline) of Letterkenny, Ireland & Kevin Joseph Lloyd (Wendy) of Liverpool, NY; eight grandchildren, Christina Eileen Hacker, Jenna Lloyd, Connor Lloyd, Aiden Lloyd, Adam Lloyd, Orla Lloyd, Ciaran Lloyd; and Christina Bernard (Cummings);and four great grandchildren, Aeden, Carol, Lyrical & Harmony as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Lloyd; son, Thomas M. Lloyd; great grandson Patrick Shepherd and six siblings, William, Joseph, Rosemary, Nancy, Patrick & Robert. The family will receive visitors at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave. in Warrenton, VA on Sunday, February 19th, 2023 from 1 to 5 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 pm on Monday, February 20th, 2023, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 12762 Lee Highway in Washington, VA.
