Army Sergeant in Korean War Era, Family Man, "Quiet & Gentle"
Vincent Pat Imbesi, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Eger Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Facility in Staten Island, New York. He was born August 11, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, to Leonard and Lena Imbesi.

Vincent enlisted in the army at the age of 18, serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. While serving, he elevated himself through the ranks to become a Sergeant, and received four Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He married Constance Imbesi on Oct. 9, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York.

Vincent truly lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed going out to eat, reading the newspaper and filling out every crossword puzzle, chatting with friends, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. And of course, he was an avid Mets fan. He was a quiet, gentle man, and will be dearly missed by all his loved ones.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Galbo and her husband, Frank; son, John Imbesi and his wife, Camille; and granddaughters, Francesca, Danielle, Alexandra, and Nicole.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, N.Y. 10306. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 90 3rd St., Staten Island, N.Y. 10306. Burial is in Ocean View Cemetery.
