SIDNEY - Our beautiful Birdie has gone on to be with Jesus in paradise. Alberta Ruth "Birdie" Gambrel, of Sidney, passed away peacefully at her home at 4:24 P.M. Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the age of 82.
She was born on July 27, 1943, daughter to the late Ezra and Lenora Wierwille. On July 3, 1976, she married her loving Paul, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2010. Birdie is survived by her sisters, Arlene Dicus and Gloria (Lee) Schroer, children Vicki Smith, Paul Belton, and Lori Hull, step-children Irene Day and Jim Gambrel, her grandchildren, Kelly (Dusty) Hudson, Jeremiah (Ashley) Smith, Seth (Sarah) Belton, Rebekah (Paul) Miller, Danielle (Chad) Ludwig, and Ryan (Stephanie) Belton, and her great-grandchildren Mikayla, Kiana, Mylah, Avery, Bristol, Holland, Sage, Asher, Scarlett, Everett, Bentley, Ashton, Ezra, Khloe, Liam, and Milo. She was preceded in death by siblings, Marjorie and Norman. Birdie was always on the go but never in a hurry. She loved to meet up with her friends, whether it was game night, worship night, or grabbing a cup of coffee. She knew the simple joy of sitting and talking with a friend or family member. She would visit her dearest friends no matter where it was, in the hospital, nursing home, or at their house. She loved attending events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Birdie attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Sidney. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on November 24th, 1981, and she was not ashamed to share the faith she had found. Birdie was the best encourager and edifier; she didn't know a stranger and was selfless, always taking care of others around her. She was always cracking a joke, never missing a beat, laughing sometimes without making a sound. Birdie taught us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lift up those around us with an encouraging word. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, laughter, and faith, that will have ripple effects for generations to come.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 12 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 A.M. util the time of service. Condolences may be expressed to Birdie's family at, www.cromesfh.com
