DEGRAFF -- Charles Elmer Easton, 93, of DeGraff, known to everyone as Elmer, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday morning, September 10, 2022, at the Homestead at Logan Acres.
Elmer was born in Logan County on May 30, 1929, to the late Carl M. and Gertrude H. (Eiler) Easton. He was also preceded in death by brothers Stanley Easton, Henry Easton, Edwin Easton, and Carl (Junior) Easton, and sisters Carolyn Thornton, June Harbour, Evelyn Blackstone, and Bonnie Orsborne.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Anna Mae (McBrien) Easton, whom he married on November 15, 1953. He is also survived by a daughter Linda (Bill) Asman; sons: Charles (Marcia) Easton, Scott (Melanie) Easton, and Patrick (Denise) Easton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother John Easton and a sister Mary Kies.
Elmer served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a proud patriot. He loved driving his Army Jeep in local parades and was a member of the American Legion where he loved volunteering at the fish fries. He owned and operated the former DeGraff Coal Company and was employed with Copelands in Sidney for 30 years. After retirement, Elmer worked at Riverside Schools and served as an EMT for the Riverside squad.
Elmer loved fishing, gardening, working in his barn, telling stories about growing up on the family farm, and watching RFD tv. Elmer was a devout family man who loved any time he got to spend with his grandkids. His "happy go lucky" spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 4-6pm at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St. DeGraff, where Pastor Rob Starnes will officiate Elmer's funeral at 6pm. Burial will be at a later date in Greenwood-Union Cemetery.
