SIDNEY - Dora Jane Griffis, age 78, of Sidney, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Hospice of Miami County, Troy. She was born November 26, 1946, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Lester Welch and Florence E. (Burroughs) Welch.
On June 27, 1964, she married Paul Griffis, and he survives.
Dora is survived by sister, Jean A. Welch Campbell of Cincinnati, nephew, Sam (Denicka) Gordon of Bellefontaine, Grant McCreary of Marysville and much extended family; Anita, Kati and very special friend, Phyllis, and special friends, Bruce and Teresa Hammer, and her beloved 4 footed tomcat "Trouble".
Dora was preceded in death by sons; Michael in December 1994, and Greg in May 2015, also brother, Richard Burroughs and wife Ginny, sister, Deborah Gordon, niece, Jessica McCreary and Brother-in-law Jim Campbell.
She was a 1964 graduate of Fairlawn High School and a member of the Northtowne Church of God in Sidney. She had retired from Copeland Corporation in Sidney, after 40 years of faithful service. Dora enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, baking, going to garage sales and collecting cookbooks and old tins. She felt her greatest accomplishments in life were taking care of her husband and being the best mother to her sons, taking the greatest care of them until God called them home.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral will commence at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Carl McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northtowne Church of God in Dora's memory. On-line memories may be made at www.theadamsfuneralhome.com.
