ANNA - Dorothy Marie (Nolte) Jackson, age 85, of N. Linden Street in Anna, Ohio, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her residence Friday evening, January 10, 2025.
She was born May 21, 1939, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Melvin & Frances (Cole) Nolte. On August 16, 1969, in the beauty of the Philippine islands, Dorothy married Gary Jackson who preceded her in death on July 23, 2001. Surviving are two children, Christopher Jackson of Norfolk, VA, and Kimberly Jackson & Derek Spaugy of Anna; two grandchildren, Kyla & Tyler Johnson and Spencer Jackson along with one great-granddaughter, Juneau Jackson; three brothers, James Nolte of Anna, Louis Nolte of Anna and Michael Nolte of Sidney as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Christian Jackson and three sisters-in-law, Doris, Jeanette and Nancy Nolte.
Dorothy was a 1957 graduate of Anna High School. She went on to study nursing and to obtain RN credentials at the former St. Rita's School of Nursing in Lima. Dorothy served in the US Air Force as a nurse during the Vietnam War. She had been stationed in the Philippines for six years. In 2006, Mrs. Jackson retired from the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Sidney American Legion Post #217. Dorothy was an avid reader. Years ago, she also enjoyed knitting.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, January 17, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in McCartyville with Rev. John W. Tonkin presiding. Interment with military honors will follow at the church cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie and Friday 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church gathering room. Memorials may be made to Wilson Health Hospice or charity of donor's choice. Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
