VERSAILLES -- Harold "Harry" A. Bruns age 69, of Versailles passed away at 12:23 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Harry was born April 30, 1952, in Coldwater to the late Robert & Alvina (Watercutter) Bruns. In addition to his parents, Harry was also preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Omer & Rita Bertke; and sister-in-law, Carol Bruns.
Harry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen (Bertke) Bruns; children, Alison & Darren Schortgen of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Ashley & Andrew Brown of Kettering and Cody & Lindsey Bruns of Grandview Heights; grandchildren, Ava Schortgen, Emma Schortgen, Lucy Schortgen, Brooks Brown and Elyse Brown; siblings, Fred & Edna Bruns of Troy, Jerry Bruns of St. Henry, Carol & Roger Gigandet of Versailles, Tom & Marilyn Bruns of Burkettsville, Mary Lou & Ken Meyer of Ft. Loramie, Dick Bruns of Houston and Bill Bruns of Ft. Loramie; in-laws, Steve & Dianne Bertke of New Bremen, Mary Jo & Marv Koester of Celina, Denise & Fats Kunk of Yorkshire, Patrick & Claudia Bertke of New Jersey, Lynn & Ray Moeller of Mendon, Gerry Bertke of New Bremen and Gregg & Anita Bertke of New Bremen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry was a 1970 graduate of Ft. Loramie High School. He retired from Airstream in Jackson Center with over 40 years of service. Harry was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Versailles Eagles and Stillwater Valley Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going with the guys to Cincinnati Reds games and watching Versailles Tigers sports. Harry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially being with his grandkids. He lived life to the fullest and always was the life of the party.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, December 30, 2021, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Jim Simons. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions may be made to the Versailles Community Scholarship Fund in Harry's memory. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com
