Harold Holthaus Obituary

SIDNEY - Harold "Hank" William Holthaus, age 91, of Cisco Road, Sidney, passed away of natural causes Sunday morning, November 16, 2025, at the Versailles Rehab & Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio.

He was born January 2, 1934, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Henry & Eleanor (Brunswick) Holthaus. On November 21, 1970, at Transfiguration Catholic Church in West Milton, Hank married his wife of nearly fifty-five years, Patricia (Franz) Holthaus. Also surviving are four children: Mark Holthaus and Michael Holthaus, both of Fort Loramie, Jennifer & Christopher Kloeker of Troy and Brian & Corrie (Barga) Holthaus of Minster; eight grandchildren: Tara & Ryan Schulze, Megan Holthaus, Kelsi Holthaus & fiancé, Austin Albers, Austin and Ashley Kloeker, Carmen, Hank and Allie Holthaus along with two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kaden Schulze; two siblings, Velma Mayl of Kettering, Eugene & Joyce Holthaus of Sidney and two brothers-in-law, Daniel & Linda Franz of Englewood and James & Deb Franz of Xenia as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norbert and Richard Holthaus and sisters & brothers-in-law: Marian Holthaus, William Mayl and Sally Franz.

Mr. Holthaus was a US Army veteran and had been stationed in Germany following the Korean War. In 1995 he retired from a dedicated career in dairy farming. Many years ago, he had been employed at a barber shop in Dayton. Hank was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where over the years he had been an usher and also served on parish council. He belonged to the Fort Loramie American Legion and was a past member of the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles. Additionally, he served five years on the Turtle Creek Township Board of Zoning Appeals. Hank enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, golf, and especially Sunday family game days. He also followed his children and grand-children's school and sporting activities. Back in the day, Hank had been an avid league bowler with the Ma & Pa and Minster Men's Leagues.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Newport with Rev. John Tonkin presiding. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
