SIDNEY — James F. Fogt, age 71, of Sidney, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1946, in Sidney to the late Eldon F. and Kathryn (Finkenbine) Fogt. On Aug. 14, 1965, he married Leoma McKee. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Nicklaus (Jennifer) Fogt, of Upper Arlington, Andrew (Shelley) Fogt, of Sidney, and Mitchell (Andrea) Fogt, of Dublin; grandchildren, Mallory Fogt, Zachary Fogt, Madeline Fogt, Hannah Fogt, Emily Fogt, Evan Fogt, Isabella Fogt and Marissa Fogt; siblings, Richard (Virginia) Fogt, of West Jefferson, and Patricia Fogt, of Springfield; and brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Pamela McKee of Anna.
James graduated from Jackson Center High School in 1964. He also attended ITT in Dayton. James was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church and Sidney Moose. He retired after 38 years as a Design Engineer at Copeland Corporation in Sidney. James held 18 patents related to Scroll Compressors.
He loved traveling to St. Augustine, Florida, Smoky Mountains, Alaska, Hawaii and Nova Scotia. James enjoyed biking and woodworking. He also liked spending time riding his ATV in the National Forest and Sand Dunes of Michigan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and following all the things they were involved in.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at Adams Funeral Home in Sidney with the Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Some of my early childhood memories are of my dad and Jim sitting at the kitchen table swapping stories and jokes!
There are no words to express my sympathy, but you are in my thoughts. I hope (no, I'm sure) you have plenty of warm and happy memories that will be a comfort in the days and weeks ahead, and I pray that God's peace is with you.
