Send FlowersSIDNEY - Janice Elaine Ward, age 87 of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:19 PM at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 8, 1937, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clyde P. and Opal (Yelton) Mummey.
On August 12, 1955, she married Richard Eugene Ward who preceded her in death on July 30, 2015. She is survived by two sons: Gregory E. (Helen Heins) Ward, and Mark E. Ward both of Sidney, two grandchildren: Michael E. (Kristi) Ward, and Stephanie (Tyler) Everett both of Sidney, five great-grandchildren: Kaden Ward, Landon Everett, Nolan Everett, Lena Everett, and Madilyn Ward, two siblings: Diana (Bill) Reineke of Maplewood, and Jenny Lay of Sidney, sister-in-law, Sandy Mummey of Florida, and brother-in-law, Dale Ward of Quincy. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Warren Mummey, Shirley Ceylor, and David Leroy Mummey.
Jan was a graduate of Quincy High School class of 1955. She retired from Monarch Machine in Sidney. She was a member of Pleiades 298 Order of Eastern Star and New Life Baptist Church in Port Jefferson.
Jan enjoyed watching her sons coach her grandchildren in their activities, and her great-grandchildren showing their pigs at the fair. She loved crochet, was an avid Ohio State fan, and cherished her time camping and hosting parties at the family property on the river. She most recently enjoyed seeing family and friends at the 2025 fireworks show in July.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Kris Geise officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorials to honor Jan may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cromesfh.com
