SIDNEY — John Junior Riffell, 79, of Sidney, passed away 6:55 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1936, in Painters Creek, Ohio, the son of the late John and Helen (Deal) Riffell. On June 30, 1956, John married Ruth Ann Covault and she survives in Sidney.
He is also survived by two sons, Jeff (Denise) Riffell, of St. Marys, and Dale (Angela) Riffell, of Anna; six grandchildren, Cyndi Craig, of Quincy, Nate Riffell, of Lakeview, Justin (Molly) Riffell and Abby (Josh) Zimmerman, of St. Marys, Samantha Riffell, of Anna, and Tyler Riffell, of St. Marys; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven sisters, Virginia Pennington, of Centerville, Donna Pauline (Nevin) Elleman, of Troy, Shirley Morrow, of Indiana, Barbara (Robert) Helm, of Tipp City, Janet Sue (David) Bowers, of Easley, South Carolina, Sandy (Dean) Easterling, of Troy, and Annette (Greg) Miller, of Piqua.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Riffell,and two brothers-in-law, Donald Scanlon and Chuck Pennington.
Mr. Riffell was retired from Sidney Manufacturing Co. John was past president and member of the Sidney Eagles 1403 for 43 years. He created many wonderful memories with his family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 6 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. Friends may call Saturday from 4 p.m. until hour of service. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials contributions, in memory of John, may be made to Wilson Hospice or Catholic Social Services.
