Lloyd Applegate

WAPAKONETA - Lloyd Clayton Applegate, age 88 of Wapakoneta, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 8:58 PM at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born on March 20, 1937, in Plattsville, Ohio, the son of the late Charles Clyde and Lela May (Sterling) Applegate.

On February 14, 1965, Lloyd married Mary Jane (Moehring) who survives along with four children: David (Paula) Applegate of Sparta, NC, Dawn Applegate of Sidney, Darcy (Rodney) Heitz of Elgin, OH, and Darin (Stacey) Applegate of Wapakoneta, six grandchildren: Dakota, McKenzie, Jordon, McKayla, Jarad, and Damon, and great-grandson, Deacon. He was preceded in death by 11 siblings, granddaughter, Ashley, and one great-grandchild, Emberly Jade Fleck.

Lloyd was a Sidney High School graduate class of 1955. He was a proud veteran who served his country in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1966. He retired in 1999 from LeRoi Dresser in Sidney after many years of faithful service.

Lloyd was a man who never knew a stranger, no matter where he went. He was an avid Texas A&M Aggies, San Francisco 49ers, and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids who will miss him dearly.

Funeral Services for Lloyd will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev Eileen Hix officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until the time of service. In keeping with Lloyd's wishes, he will be cremated following funeral services.
