COVINGTON — Marvin Leroy Wackler, age 87, of Covington passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1930, in Miami County, Ohio, to the late Oliver and Ida (Ortman) Wackler.
Marvin is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin Joe and Pat Wackler, of Sidney, Duane Wackler, of Covington, and David Robert and Kelly Wackler, of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Mary Sue Wackler, of Lebanon; sister, Erma Cool, of Sidney; grandchildren, Wendy Michelle Critch, Sara Jo and Dan DeMay, Lisa Ann and Matthew Wolfe, Tyler Robert Wackler and Erin Joanne Wackler; several great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn (Frey) Wackler; grandson, Michael Todd Wackler; brothers, Harold, Carl, Ralph, Robert and Kenneth Wackler, and sisters, Helen Etherington, Glenna Baker and Dorothy Musser.
Marvin was a lifelong resident of Covington. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War; a past member of the Covington Eagles Aerie No. 3998 and member of Piqua Church of the Nazarene.
He had previously worked at Sellmans, custodian of J.R. Clarke Library, Covington, for many years; custodian at Covington Schools, had been self-employed as a window washer, installed carpet, and handsewed many rugs.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Steve Spoon and Pastor Lincoln Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 16, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Piqua Church of the Nazarene, Hospice of Miami County or Covington Fire & Rescue.
