SIDNEY - Matt B. Mazingo, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, after a courageous nearly five-year battle with cancer. Born on April 22, 1950, Matt lived a life defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and an unwavering generosity of spirit.
For 40 years, Matt made his living driving a semi, a career he took great pride in. Even after retiring, he couldn't sit still for long-he began hauling hot shot loads with his own truck and trailer, continuing to do what he loved most: being on the open road.
More than anything, Matt loved being a father and grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and once he fully retired, spending time with his grandchildren became his greatest joy. Those who knew him will remember his big heart and his willingness to help anyone in need-he would truly give you the shirt off his back.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Opal (Gross) Mazingo, and his cousins, Kenneth Mazingo and Geneva Teague. He is survived by his children: John (Ashley) Mazingo, Charles (Alicia) Mazingo, Nicole Mazingo, Kayla (Ray) Knight, and Daron (Lauren) Stepp; his beloved grandchildren: Memphis, Landen, Daedrean, Nevaeh, Aidan, Sierra, Liliah, Abigail, Jade, Max, Mallory, and Wyatt; his 4 great grandchildren, his sisters: DeeAnna (David) Deno and Marie (Sonny) Nonnemacher and many close friends. Each of them will carry his love and memory in their hearts forever.
As those who knew and loved him would say, "God broke the mold when He made Matt-there is no other like him."
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Matt's legacy of love, strength, and selflessness will continue to live on through his family and all those blessed to have known him. On-line memories may be made at www.theadamsfuneralhome.com.
