BOTKINS - Michael P. Cooper, 67, of Botkins, died at 5:09 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at his daughter's residence.
He was born March 17, 1956, in Fryburg, Ohio, the son of Gary W. and Shirley Marie (Lenhart) Cooper, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include 4 children: Daniel Cooper, Botkins, Erica (Steve) King, Sidney, Emily (Jessy) Short, Vandalia, and Elleah (Joel) Meyer, Versailles; 6 grandchildren: Elias, Liam, & Isaac Cooper, Krosbey King, Cooper Short and Maria Meyer; 6 siblings: Kathy (Richard) Behr, Botkins, Timothy Cooper, Botkins, Rev. Jeffrey Cooper, C.S.C, Cascade CO, Jeanne (Dan) Homan, Lady Lake, FL, Julia (Amy) Cooper, Centerville, OH, Nicholas (Tracy) Cooper, Botkins.
Michael worked for Kennedy's Garage, Botkins as a mechanic. He was a 1974 graduate of Botkins High School. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads and artifacts, reading, fishing, blues music and rock & roll, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was known as one of the co-founders of the 'Table of Knowledge'
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20 20, 2023 at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Deacon Marty Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Interim Hospice – Dayton. A couple of years ago Mike came in to our business next door to where he was living and gave us some pretty cut peonies to enjoy. It was a very nice gesture.
