Roger Marchal Obituary
CRIDERSVILLE — Roger L. Marchal, 66, of Cridersville, died at 6:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in the Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born, March 22, 1952, in Piqua, the son of Louis Raymond and Anna Mae (Spornhauer) Marchal, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sisters, Patricia A. Marchal and Linda K. (Michael) Krall, both of Troy; a nephew, Timothy C. (Alexa) Magoto, of Centerville; a niece, Jennifer A. (Kevin) Subler, of Versailles; eight great-nieces and great-nephews, Kate, James, Ali and Charlie Magoto, and Matthew, Jack, Henry and Grace Subler; dear friends, David and Danyse Christiansen.
Roger retired as a claims representative from the Social Security Administration, Lima office.
A 1970 graduate of Russia High School, Roger received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wright State University. He later received master's degrees in English and theology from University of Dayton. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, where he served as a church organist and pianist. He also served as organist at several area churches and had a passion for playing pipe organs. Roger enjoyed fine wines, fine dining and traveling.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Newport.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, 1102 Lincoln (state Route 501), Wapakoneta. Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed at www.bayliffandeleyfh.com.

Roger was an excellent organist at St. Joseph, Wapakoneta. Please accept my deepest condolences. He was a special part of my spiritual life for over 13 years.

Sincere condolences to your entire family. Roger was a special person and added much to the St. Joseph church family. My mother Rose Krites, thought so highly of him. She worked for over 40 years at St. Joe and their paths crossed often. She so enjoyed their talks and time together. God Bless!

Roger was a good friend growing up in Russia. We had many bus rides after school and many games of euchre played over the back seat of the bus, impossible to do today. We also had visits and I remember seeing color TV for the first time at his house, The Flintstones, on a Tuesday night. He gave a lot of attention to things he was passionate about so seeing that he loved fine wines is not too surprising. He was a good person and quite underrated in the scope of things. I wish I had maintained more contact. Rest in Peace and condolences to Patty, Linda and family and friends.
