Albert Madrid Obituary

Albert Madrid passed away at his longtime Newhall home September 14, 2021. He was born on July 22, 1930 in Jerome, Arizona to Mariano and Jesusita Madrid.

Al moved to California at 14 to live with his sister Alicia, her husband Ralph "Deo" Tellez, and their son Robert. After graduating from Bellarmine-Jefferson High School in 1948, he worked several odd jobs until finally joining the Burbank Police Department in 1953. His tenure included ranks of Cadet, Sergeant, Detective, retiring as Lieutenant.

Al was inducted into Burbank Athletics Walk of Fame in 2004 for coaching. He loved fishing and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; telling them stories and listening to theirs; helping them heal small scrapes and bruises and watching the boys play sports or his granddaughter cheer for Hart High.

Al was preceded in death by his lovely wife Patricia Madrid (nee Kunze), son Rick Madrid and his daughter-in-law Mary Madrid (nee Richardt). He is survived by his daughter Catherine Madrid, son Bobby Madrid (Cathryn). Grandfather to Drue Madrid-Hackstedt (Huck), Kenny Madrid (fiancé Kaylee Murray), Jacob Madrid, Mason Madrid, Carson Madrid, and great grandfather to Hope Hackstedt.

Al's booming voice, bold personality and endless jokes will be sorely missed by many.
