Chester Leroy Herrington Jr., age 89, peacefully passed away on August 31, 2025, in Logan, Utah. He was born on October 3, 1935, in Newhall, California, to Chester Leroy Herrington Sr. and Lora Lee Herrington.
Chester married the love of his life, Debra Herrington, on August 8, 1981. Throughout his life, Chester was proud to call Canyon Country and Newhall, California, his home. He graduated from Hart High School and went on to build a successful career as a teamster and crude oil supervisor at Newhall Refinery, eventually retiring from Pauley Petroleum after an impressive 30 years of dedicated service.
In addition to his professional achievements, Chester honorably served in the Army. He was an avid sports enthusiast, playing both football and basketball during his high school years. Later, he enjoyed golfing and cherished the moments spent watching football games, both on television and live at Hart High School, where he took great pride in supporting his sons as they coached the football team.
Chester is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Herrington, and his three children: Mike Herrington (Nicole), Rick Herrington, and Dean Herrington (Gayle). He will also be remembered fondly by his granddaughter, Kasey Herrington, and his grandson, Todd Herrington.
Chester is preceded in death by his parents, Chester L. Herrington Sr. and Lora Lee Herrington, as well as his brother, Tommy Herrington.
A graveside service to honor the life of Chester will be held on October 3, 2025, at 11 A.M. at Fielding Cemetery (17200 N 4400 W- Fielding). Online condolences can be found at www.ruddfuneralhome.com.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hart High School for many years of wonderful football and baseball games that brought immense joy to Chester's life. He took great pride in his sons' coaching and their many accomplishments.
Chester's legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
