Robert Dawe Obituary

1939 - 2016

Robert D. Dawe, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and man of faith, passed on January 22, 2016 at the age of 76 from a battle with cancer. Bob was born April 1939 in Southgate, CA to Charles and Virginia Dawe.

He met the love of his life, Carol, at Hollywood Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Starting their home in Sherman Oaks, they moved to the Santa Clarita area in 1988. Celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2011, Bob continued singing when they joined Valencia United Methodist Church. An invaluable contributor to men's ministries he was best known for cooking breakfast, including 24 Walk to Emmaus retreats. He also served the community by ushering for the Performing Center of the Arts at College of the Canyons.

Thought to be an Army cook, Bob retired from the Army National Guard in 1984 as a Master Sergeant with 28 years of service. A unit leader for Armor, Cav, Infantry and Artillery units, "Sarge" prepared many for deployment. Training as a military sniper led to a lifetime interest in firearms, shared with his son, Steven. Active in Boy Scouts, he was proud that Steven achieved Life Scout and became a US Marine! Steven married Sherri, and now has 3 beautiful daughters.

Bob loved working with his hands, retiring from Westland Graphics after 30 years in printing. A master wood worker, he created works of art, toys and furniture. He was an avid stamp collector, but loved eating meals with family and friends more. He proudly wore his clan colors at Scottish gatherings.

Robert was loved by many, but apparently God loved him more and called him home. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Steven and three granddaughters. Services are at10:00a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Valencia United Methodist Church, 25718 McBean Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91355.

DeColores Bob. I worked many Emmaus walks with bob and he was a get it done man. Bob blessed many of us through his passion for cooking GOOD meals and always on time. Bob made the world a better place through his servants heart. I will always remember our times together.
