Susan McCready Obituary

1957-2017

It is with mixed emotions that an announcement is made by her family of the passing of Susan Renée McCready on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Her family and friends will miss her forever but will rejoice in her being set free from the shackles of cancer.

Susan was born on October 27, 1957 in Lincoln, NE. "Go Big Red!" She lived there until 1972 when her parents took Susan, her younger sister Julie, and their older brother Scott out to beautiful San Diego, CA. She finished out her high school years and attended UCSD for two years before transferring to UCSB, where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in German.

She started her financial career in Los Angeles with Great Western Bank and this is where she met the love of her life, Mark McCready. The two of them eventually bought a home together and settled in the Santa Clarita Valley. They were married on November 27, 1992 and were blessed with two sons, Matthew in 1993 and Christopher in 1996.

Susan's career path landed her at Wescom Credit Union, where she dedicated her remaining 17 years, advancing to Senior Vice President of Member Services. She had many beloved and respected colleagues there.

While a career was fulfilling to Susan, she was a fully engaged mom, attending all of the boys' sporting events and filming every school event and living room "concert". She also found time to help plan and enjoy the yearly family vacations to various major league baseball parks and coastal resorts.

Susan is survived by her loving husband Mark; her adored sons: Matt and Chris; her sister Julie Nailling and husband Bill; her beautiful nieces: Katie, Christy and Jenny; her mother Brenda Reed of Indian Wells, CA; father Murv Barry of Valencia, CA; mother-in-law Pat McCready of Santa Barbara, CA; sister-in-law Leslie Davis of Canyon Country, CA. She was preceded in death by her brother Scott Barry, her stepfather David Reed and her father-in-law Al McCready.

Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Northpark Community Church, 28310 Kelly Johnson Parkway, Valencia, CA 91355. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USC Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90033 (https://uscnorriscancer.usc.edu/).

Susan was the sweetest lady I have ever met. It didn't matter if you were the CEO or the janitor, she treated every person with respect and care.
The world lost a great lady and we will never forget her.

Mark and family....I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Susan and I worked together at Great Western and our team got to be at your wedding, see the joy of your first born and we also sadly shared the loss of her brother. They are reunited...both were taken way too soon. May God give you peace and the love of friends give you comfort...

Susan was an incredible person who made me and everyone who worked with her a better person. Her passion for life was infectious...when she walked into a room the temperature of the room changed.
Personally, I will always cherish our mutual love for the San Francisco Giants and all things baseball. I am eternally grateful to have known her.
Rest in Peace Susan.
