Jerry Meinders Obituary

Jerry Meinders, 80, of fort Dodge, died on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Burial full military honors will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in VanMeter, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Rolling Hill Community Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday, October 4th at the church. www.gundersonfuneralhome.com.

Jerome "Jerry" Banner Meinders, the son of Leslie and Viola (Buckley) Meinders, was born on August 18, 1945, in Worthington, MN. The family moved to a farm near Wood Lake, MN when he was five years old. After graduating from Wood Lake High School in 1963, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and spent two years as an electronic technician at the Hohenfels Army Base in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1966. Jerry worked in Minneapolis, MN until his marriage to Kathy Condra on July 3, 1970, at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer, Iowa. Jerry worked primarily in quality control at small appliance factories, first for Litton Microwave in Sioux Falls, SD and when it closed, he worked for Toastmaster in Macon, MO until it closed. While working full-time he also attended night school and received his BS degree in business. He eventually worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker in Sioux City, IA.

Jerry enjoyed being an active member of Kiwanis International and The Gideons International. He was an active member of the Methodist Church until joining the Baptist Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Jerry was an avid runner for over 30 years and entered many 5K and 10K races throughout the years. He was also a big Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathy Meinders; his children, Heidi (Matt) Wenck of Cameron, MO, Kelly Meinders of Vero Beach, FL, and Jeffrey (Courtney) Meinders of Ft. Leavenworth, KS; grandchildren, Elise & Claire Wenck, and Dakota, Jacob & Lena Meinders. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill and Tom, and sisters Linda and Candi. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister Barbe.
