Mary J. Mastne, 96, of Crestview, Fl., formerly of Dakota City, passed away on Aug. 27, 2021.Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday Oct. 25 in Dakota City Cemetery. Luncheon to be served immediately following at the Dakota City Legion Hall.

Mary was born June 29, 1925, to Robert and Anna (Metz) Lambrecht. She was raised with 2 brothers and 3 sisters in Sioux City. She met the love of her life, Harry Mastne, during World War II while Harry was serving in the US Navy. The two were united in marriage on November 19, 1945, at the Church of All Nations in Sioux City by the Rev. Paul Hantla. They renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary, which was officiated by Rev. Hantla's sons.Mary enjoyed travelling with her family, especially to Branson Missouri, where she spent many vacations a year. She and Harry especially enjoyed going to Silver Dollar City, where they made many lifelong friends. Mary was especially talented at sewing and crafting. Her specialty was making gifts for others out of plastic canvas. If you knew Mary, you probably have a handmade gift from her!

Mary is survived by four sons, Ronald (Aleen), Edward, Harry James, and Robert; Daughter-in-law, Michelle Mastne, Granddaughter, Stephanie (Luke) Casotti, Donnie Mastne; and two Great Grandchildren, Sophia and Benny.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Son, Roger Mastne; and Daughter-in-law, Carol Mastne.
