Michael Loys Casavant Obituary
Mike was born on Sept. 23, 1947. He graduated from East High School in 1965. He ran track and qualified for State in the mile relay.
After graduating Mike and his family moved to Missoula, Mont. After returning to Sioux City, Mike worked for Housing and Urban Development managing rehabilitation of low-cost housing.
Mike enjoyed many things like fishing, hunting and reading books about U.S. history. He went on adventures like rafting through a hailstorm on the Snake River in Montana and a remote lake in Siberia.
After retiring Mike moved to Yankton, S.D. There he helped with the reconstruction of the Mead Museum, while also enjoying his hobbies.
Mike is survived by his daughter Debra (Kelly) McKeever and grandson Aidan and son Luke Casavant, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also his friend Judy Anderson. Siblings include brothers Doug Casavant, and Tom (Karen) Casavant and sisters Julie (Ed) Schenck and Sue (Paul) Duncan.
He was preceded in death by father LeRoy (Bud) Casavant and mother Mary (Wood) Casavant, and his grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2026.

While I never knew Michael, I adored both of your parents. Mary was a wonderful teacher, and my parents were friends with both Mary and Bud. Blessings and love to all of you.
