January 28, 1934 - November 1, 2025

Nancy L. (Nannen) Burright, age 91, of Pierson, Iowa passed away at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls on Saturday November 1, 2025.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 7th at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument in Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation with family will be held 11:30 a.m. until service time on Friday. A luncheon will follow, and burial will be at the Good Hope Cemetery, rural Correctionville, Iowa.

Nancy Lee Nannen was born on January 28, 1934, in Pierson, Iowa to Ben and Shirley Nannen. After graduating from Pierson High School in 1951 she attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. She earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Home Economics. It was there that she met Jack who was a waiter in the dorm she lived in. While in college, she also participated in Bethany Fellowship at First Christian Church in Ames.

On June 15, 1955 Nancy and Jack were united in marriage at the Pierson Christian Church. After Jack was discharged from the Air Force they returned to the Nannen family farm south of Pierson. Nancy raised their four children and helped on the farm, making meals for her husband and father and the farmers who helped with making hay and picking corn.

She was a life- long member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Pierson, serving on the Diaconate, preparing meals, and teaching Sunday School. Nancy was the leader of the Pierson Handy Helper 4-H club for 35 years, Superintendent of the Home Economics Department of the Woodbury County Fair, and a 4-H judge for 4-H projects in other counties for many years. In 1980 she received the Iowa 4-H Alumni Award and in 2004 she was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame. She also served on the Woodbury County 4-H Foundation, as a trustee on the Iowa State 4-H Foundation for six years, and was the Woodbury Country Fair Manager for 18 years with her husband. She served on the NW Iowa Library Board for years and led Story Hour in Pierson for the community. Nancy served on the Pierson Town and Country Club helping with the annual Easter Egg hunt and Santa Days. She was a past President of the Pierson American Legion Auxiliary and the secretary of the Loess Hills Gourd Society where she enjoyed creating gourd crafts for the Clay County Fair. She loved being part of the Old Town group at the Woodbury Co. Fair.

Nancy enjoyed time with her family and friends. She loved gardening, reading and snuggling with her cat.

Nancy is survived by her children, Beth Campbell of Marshalltown, Iowa, John (Diann) Burright of Ames, Iowa, Janette (Russ) Smith of Indianapolis, Ind. and Blaine Burright of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Cassie Campbell, Katie Smith and Ben Burright; a sister, Lynne of Clearwater, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jack.

Memorials in Nancy's name may be made to the Woodbury County 4-H Foundation (www.iowa4Hfoundation.org), the Pierson Auxiliary, or Old Town at the Woodbury County Fair.
