Patricia L. "Patty" Groves, 69, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022, after a long illness with her family by her side at a Sioux City hospital.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Service will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Patricia Groves was born on Nov. 9, 1952, to Everette and Irene (Girard) Clay in Sioux City. She attended both Helen High School and Central High School. In 1986 she started work at Aalfs Manufacturing as a seamstress. In 1998 Patty left Aalfs Manufacturing to attend Western Iowa Tech Community College. She graduated in 2000, with an associate degree in Computer Programming.
In the fall of 2000, Patty and Clint moved to Topeka, Kan., where she started working for the State of Kansas as a Computer Programmer. She worked there until 2020, when she retired.
On June 22, 2002, Patty married Clint Groves in South Sioux City. They resided in Topeka. In the spring of 2020, they moved to North Sioux City where she resided until her passing.
Patty and Clint loved to travel to Colorado along with traveling to different Spartan Mud Runs. She also loved going to Lake Okoboji and Camping. When she was not traveling, she loved to spend time with her family and swimming with her grandchildren. Family was everything to her.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, Clint Groves; mother-in-law, Jean Groves; seven children, Annett Wynn, Jody Wynn, Amanda Wynn, Jacob Wynn, Jennifer Groves, Ben (Christie) Groves, and Alex (Kollin Jones) Groves; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlene (Bob) Berger, Linda (Mike) Ring, and Mary Schultz; four brothers, Rod (Carol) Clay, Dennis Clay, Mark Clay, and John Clay; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; and father-in-law.
Patty was loved by many.
