Ruth M. Blank, 95, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Northern Hills Assisted Living.
Services will be at 6 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., in Sioux City with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will also be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at the Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Dr., in Mankato, Minn. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Minneopa Cemetery in rural Mankato.
Mrs. Blank, the former Ruth May Jones, was born May 7, 1926, in Judson Township, rural Judson, Minn., the daughter of Ellis V. Jones and Nellie (Dackins) Jones. She attended Judson Elementary School and graduated from Nicollet High School in Nicollet, Minn., in 1944. After two years of college, she taught school for seven years in Minnesota.
Ruth married Delmore Blank of Nicollet on Oct. 29, 1947, at the Jerusalem Presbyterian Church in rural Lake Crystal, Minn. The couple lived in Nicollet and North Mankato, Minn., before moving to Sioux City in 1971.
She had an unconditional love of her family and will be dearly missed.
Ruth worked for the Sioux City Community School District for 27 years retiring in 2002.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sioux City where she was active in Unity Circle and worked in the church school office on Sunday mornings for many years. She was a member of the Duane M. Nelson Auxiliary Unit #1981 for several years, a member of the Sioux City Retired Educators and a member at the Senior Center. Ruth loved to vacation in Northern Minnesota with family and friends. She was a great fan of the Minnesota Vikings and proud of her Welsh heritage.
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Jeanne and Steve Avery, and Patti and Bob Treptow all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Ryan Avery of Sioux City, Jonathan and wife Summer Avery of Sioux City, Owen Gross of Sioux City, and Emily and husband Corey Ainsworth of Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Avery of Sioux City; great-grandsons Michael, Charles, Carter, and Beckett; and great-granddaughters Rachael, Annie and Olivia; one nephew, Steven Ganzkow and wife Debbie; three nieces, Pam and Jim Olson, Linda and Tom Haag, and Barbara Ganzkow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmore; one sister, Doris and husband Lonnie Hall; two brothers, Ellsworth Jones, and Edward and wife Viola Jones; sister-in-law, Betty; brother-in-law, Buell Jones; and niece, Shirley Jones.

Ruth was one of the kindest aides I've ever seen from a room where there was very LITTLE kindness. Ruth and Dorothy McGinty were the brightest beacons in my world as a little boy... and now I hope she'll radiate even more back Home. May the four winds bring her back into safety Home.

Ruth was a fabulous friend who loved to laugh and raised everyone's spirits when you were around her! She was a beloved teacher that was remembered by her students for many years after she retired.I loved her and send heart felt condolences to her family.
