SIOUX CITY - Susan C. Bremer. 81, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mass of Christain Burial will be at 10:30 a. m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Meter Dei Parish- Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City. Reverand Mark Stoll will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow the lunch at the church at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, Iowa. Visitation with family present will begin after the Parish rosary at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 203, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. There will be a Scriptural prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Susan Clare Mossberg, the daughter of Louis and Madeline (Maher) Mossberg, was born on August 25, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended Immaculate Conception grade school. She then attended East High School and graduated in the class of 1959, at the age of 16. Following high school, she attended Mt. Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. Sue then transferred to Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, graduating with a degree in elementary education. She also worked part time for many years at her mother's store, Madeline's Maternity Shop, until it closed in 1975.
Upon graduating from college, she moved to Colorado, where she taught in Denver and Lamar for several years. Sue moved back to Sioux City and began teaching at Irving Elementary School in Sioux City, where she made many life-long friends. She finished her teaching career at Sunnyside Elementary School. She retired from teaching in 2000.
Sue was united in marriage to Donald A. Bremer on May 8, 1975. She continued teaching, as well as working nights and weekends at the family business, Sioux City Tarp. She and Don enjoyed traveling the country. They enjoyed spending their winters in Florida for several years. After Don passed away, Sue continued traveling to Florida with friends. Sue traveled to Italy in 2018 which was the highlight of all her travels.
Sue was a member of Mater Dei Parish in Sioux City where she had taught CCD for many years. In her spare time Sue enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards on Thanksgiving, meeting friends for coffee and trying her luck at the casino. Sue created a tight knit family with all of her children and the majority of grandchildren living in Sioux City. She truly cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy (Ras) Vanderloo of Sioux City and their children: Tyler (Kate) Vanderloo and their children, Nash, Briggs, and Kollins; Ashley (Matt) Pugh and their children, Palmer and Madden; a daughter, Kristy (Steve) Kleene of Sioux City and their children: Tyler (Calla) Kleene and their children, Porter and Cooper; Alex (Tessa) Kleene and their children, Tinley and Remi; and Jamie (Austin) Stubbs and their children, Adalynn and Jackson; a son, Bill (Heather) Bremer of Sioux City and their children: Annika, Jillian, and Lydia; a brother, Steve (Vonnie) Mossberg of Sioux Falls, SD; her in laws, Calvin Hansen of Sioux City and Lila Bremer of Moville, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Madeline Mossberg; her husband, Donald A. Bremer; and her sister, Jeanne Hansen.
Sue's family would like to thank the staff in skilled care at MercyOne in Sioux City and the nurses and staff at St. Croix Hospice. They would also like to thank Judy at Rhonda's Senior Support Services in Sioux City and the many friends and family that stopped by to see their mom.

SUSAN was a dightfful person. I taught CCD with her. We connected again when our husbands joined Moose Lodge. I am sorry I didn't get to express my sy.pathy in person to her family.
