Albert Kellerstrass Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Albert (Al) Louie Kellerstrass age 76 of Springfield passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at St. John's Hospice.

Al was born on January 9, 1933 in Peoria, the son of Ernst Frederick Kellerstrass and Myrtle Alma (Hall) Kellerstrass, and the oldest of three children.

Al was a Korean War Vet, and retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Captain. Graduating in 1954 from Bradley University, he also attended St. Louis University for meteorology training. Al retired after 34 years from the Illinois Division of Water Resources.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald Kellerstrass. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Amy Louise (Sutton), children Katherine Anne Kellerstrass and Peter Ives Kellerstrass, one granddaughter Jordan Elizabeth Kellerstrass, one brother Ernst Junior Kellerstrass (wife Barbara), sister-in-law Roberta Kellerstrass, and seven nieces and six nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Thursday July 2nd at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Hoffman presiding. Burial will be Friday July 3, 2009 with a minister from Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
