Alberta Isabelle (Evans) Barringer
HILLSBORO, IL- Alberta Isabelle (Evans) Barringer died on September 9, 2014, at age 95.
She was born June 21, 1919, in Hillsboro, Illinois, the fourth daughter of Albert and Yvonne (Cory) Evans. She married William N. Barringer on January 1, 1942, and he preceded her in death in May 2001. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Martha, Lucia, and Juliet Evans; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
Alberta is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Dan Darling of New Berlin, and daughter, Katherine Wooldridge of Springfield; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A great-great-granddaughter is expected in October.
Alberta was the last of the Greatest Generation in our family. She shared her time and talents as caregiver, baker, seamstress, and source of advice for all. She took pride in her family and wanted to be remembered for her love for family and friends.
Alberta was laid to rest beside her beloved Bill in a private family service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. Pastor Joel Lohr from Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville officiated.
The family was served by Boardman Smith Funeral Chapel.
