Alice R. Daugherty
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Alice R. Daugherty, 96, of Springfield, died at 12:41 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center.
Alice was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Christian County, the daughter of John and Bertha Minnis Nagle. She married Clarence H. Daugherty on July 24, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.; he preceded her in death.
Alice was a devoted homemaker and worked for Family Pride Laundromat from 1980-1992 and was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of St. Cabrini Parish and enjoyed quilt making, sewing, canning, cooking and BINGO.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; five sisters; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Beverly Daugherty; and one grandson, Allen Daugherty.
She is survived by four children: Jack R. Daugherty of Farmersville, Carol J. (husband, Howard) McDermott of Cascade, Iowa, Sharon "Shay" Graham (fiancé, Frank Tieman) of Springfield, and Joseph C. (wife, Julie) Daugherty of Sherman; six grandchildren: Kelly Jo Sonneborn, Carrie Manternach, Jacob R., Patrick J., Terry, and Duane Daugherty; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brother, William Nagle of Kankakee.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will conclude with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield, with the Rev. Richard Chiola celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Cabrini Altar and Rosary Society, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield.
