I just received word and I'm absolutely shocked. During my time in Springfield, Allen was a great source of support as a brother in Christ. On numerous occasions, we talked about what it meant to be a good husband, father and man of God. I even had the privilege of driving him up to Chicago for the birth of one of his grandchildren. Just a few weeks ago, he forwarded me an e-mail about how to help out Sandy Hook families. That's the type of man Allen was. I pray that someday I'll be as good a husband, father, and grandfather as he was. My wife and I will pray for healing for the Oehlert family.

Sara and family,
You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this time of tremendous heartache. I taught with Sara at Matheny School and I only met Allen once, but loved hearing about the fabulous Oehlert family vacations. Remember all of those wonderful times and know that he truly is always with you. God bless!
