Barbara Lee Learned
ELGIN, IL - Barbara Lee Learned, 82, formerly of Springfield Ill., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin.
Barbara was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Springfield. Barbara retired from Horace Mann Insurance Company after more than 47 years of service. She was an avid reader, consuming books in as little as several hours. She also loved to draw with colored pencils. Barbara enjoyed rooting for the Atlanta Braves, having been a fan since the early 1980s. In her later years she enjoyed attending Bible Study at First United Methodist Church in Springfield.
She is survived by her daughter, Leanne (Tom) Schau; son, Jeremy Learned; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Robert Laswell and Opal Pearl (Massey) Laswell; brother, Harry Taylor Laswell; and son, Eric "Rick" Learned.
Barbara will be inurned at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, in a private ceremony. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at a later date.
The family requests memorial contributions to: First United Methodist Church, 2941 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711.
