Brittney R. Grider
SPRINGFIELD - Brittney R. Grider, 16, of Springfield, died at 11:57 pm, Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. She was born July 3, 1994 in Springfield to Terry Grider and Darcie Peddycoart.
She is survived by her mother Darcie Peddycoart of Springfield; father, Terry Grider of Springfield; three sisters, Alyssa and Marley Harford and Molly Grider all of Springfield; one brother, Dallton Grider of Springfield; Maternal Grandparents, Margaret "Maggie" (Pehr) Markusson of Springfield and Dave Peddycoart of Springfield; Paternal Grandparents, Kathryn (Tommy) Boastick of Springfield and Michael (Maryellen) Grider of Mechanicsburg and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brittney loved her family and spending time with her friends. She loved all animals including fish and turtles. She lived every day to the fullest and did not want to waste a minute! Brittney was loved and cherished by all and will be deeply and sadly missed forever.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, June 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 11 am, Saturday, June 11, 2011 at St. Patrick's Church with Fr. Peter Harman officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made to APL.

Hey Britty ...it's mommie. I haven't written in a while but just know that I love you and miss you terribly every single day. You are always in my thoughts every second of the day. Alyssa and Marley miss you too. Alyssa doesn't say much but I see that she misses having her big sister here...even if you guys fought alot. Marley takes pictures of your cabinet and says she misses and loves you!!! I'm going to try and sleep now. I love you forever!

I knew Brittney, she was my friend and she will be deeply missed. I know it is hard to lose someone that is so young and so loved. She was a great person and had so many friends. I will always remember the great times we had in school together, and the great times we spent out of school. We weren't super close but I will miss her a lot. She was an awesome friend. I wish we would've gotten closer. I know she's in heaven, and I hope that she finds good friends up there like she did while she was still alive.

I did not know your daughter, however, I too lost mhy daughter in a car accident 4 yrs ago age 11. No parent should ever have to go through this pain. I did not know Brittney, but Jan 16,1981 I lost a friend. I am not 48 and it has been 30 years since his accident. I just the other day made plans with Ronnie's best friend and we are going to get together and go to the cemetery and spend the day together looking at old pics and telling stories about the fun and GOOD times we had together. I just want you to realize that 30 years from now Brittney's friends will still talk about her and maybe get together for a day of remembrance in her honor. I live a long way from where I did (and from where Ronnie lived) but I will make the trip because I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN HIM. iF Brittany needs a good friend in heaven I hope she looks up Ronnie. He will take good care of her and be a faithful friend. These kinds of things stick with people forever. I am sure that is the way it will be with your precious Brittney. My prayers are with you and I hope after the "shock" wears off, you can laugh at the silly things she probably did. You will be flipping through channels on the TV and her fav movie will come on, and you will smile. I know we don't know each other but I hope you find some comfort in my words.

Brittney I remember the 2009-2010 school year the conversations we use to have in class. Me and you use to fight over who gets the nice computer in Mrs. Wisneweski's class first even if I beat you to it you still made me give my seat up anyway. I wish we could have hung out atleast once outside of school though. You will be missed!

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

My prayers go to all of the family of this beautiful girl. I do not know you and I did not know your daughter, (granddaughter, niece, sister) but I lost a son at the age of 18 in a car wreck and I know the pain you are going through.
Through my ordeal, I have learned to live life differently. Family matters more than ever. I will tell you that you don't "get over it" but you learn a new way to live in your new life. It takes a long time. Mine was 5 years ago and I think of him daily. I continue to go to bereaved parents group, although not as much as I did for the first 4 years, but I found great relief by joining this group. Your priest or minister can help you locate the next meeting or you can email [email protected].
Please know that there are others out there willing to listen, pray, comfort - whatever it is that you need. Don't hesitate to ask. I know I now wish I would have asked more for help.
