Cody Hickey
ROCHESTER - Cody Hickey, 16, of Rochester, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center.
Cody was born on September 15, 1994 in Macomb, the son of Kevin and Antoinette Haffner Hickey.
He was a sophomore at Rochester High School. He loved playing hockey with the Champion Rochester Rockets of the Lincoln Land High School Hockey League. When he wasn't playing hockey, he loved football and the great outdoors. Cody loved going places and often visited with his Grammy and Papa in Adair. He loved playing football and baseball with his cousins and friends. Cody was always looking for odd jobs so he could make a few extra dollars. His smile would light up a room, and he was quick to pull practical jokes on friends and family. He loved the Lord and was baptized in the Gulf of Mexico last summer at the Christian Teen outreach called "Big Stuf". He had even talked to his Grampa about becoming a Youth Minister when he grew up.
He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Antoinette Hickey of Rochester; two brothers, Christopher and Caleb; one foster sister, Jakayla; two foster brothers, Joel and Brandon; grandparents, Mike and Barb Hickey of Springfield, Mike and Shirley Burnham of Adair and Roger and Norrie Haffner of Macomb; great grandmothers, Betty Lancaster and Betty Beans; three aunts, Cindy Gadberry, Kim Turner, and Billi Park; four uncles, Joe (fiancée, Alice) Hickey, Wyatt Gadberry, Aaron Turner, and Tony Park; and six cousins, Matt, Bryce, AJ, Jakob, Gavin and Connor.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Rochester Christian Church, 325 S. Walnut St., Rochester. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Rochester Christian Church, 325 S. Walnut St., Rochester with Reverend Dustin Bramer officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Cody Hickey, c/o Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Rochester, IL 62563 or Catholic Charities Home, c/o Catholic Charities, 1625 W. Washington, Springfield, IL 62702.

Hickey family: I had the pleasure of knowing Cody by being a Rochester Cafeteria Lady. He was ALWAYS a light in my day, joking around, taking time to talk(no matter how many kids were in line behind him!) Its hard to get to know the children in a short lunch period, but somehow one always has a favorite. Cody was one of mine. God Bless and Keep you all. In my prayers, Vicky McMahon

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken,
in the morning's hush,
I am the soft uplifting rush of
quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I did not die.
