David BAKER Obituary
David Alan Baker
A rock star is gone. Born May 7, 1966, David Alan Baker of Springfield lived a life of love and passion. He passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013.
The memories he generated will be treasured by his parents Martha (McCullough) and Herb Pierceall. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Baker.
Married to the love of his life – his best friend of 24 years – Darcy Ann, David was the best dad in the world to Milo McCullough and Neko Anne Baker. They will live out his legacy of adventure and joy.
David was a graduate of Lanphier High School and Illinois State University. He was completing his Masters Degree at Western Illinois University. For the last 13 years he worked for Illinois Community College Board as Associate Director for Adult Education and Family Literacy – Professional Development and had a great passion for improving education for all.
David was smart, kind, generous, loving, sarcastic, funny, creative, and much more. He added to the lives of so many. He will be missed deeply by his siblings and their spouses: Kevin and Mary Baker, Curtis and Nancy Baker, Nikki Baker and Tina Thornhill; the family he gained when he married Darcy: Steve and Carol Schneller, Johnny Schneller, and Dave "Bam" and Keri Schneller; his nieces and nephews: Emma Baker, Addison Schneller, Alyssa Swenny, Nic Baker, Nina Schneller, Sam Baker, Zoe Baker, Hannah Baker, CJ Baker, Rachel Schober and Zac Chase; numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends.
For those wanting to honor Dave Baker, a gathering will take place at Erin's Pavilion at Southwind Park, 4965 S. 2nd Street, Springfield, IL, on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. Casual dress preferred.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Milo and Neko Baker Scholarship Fund at PNC Bank.

I only knew David for a short time, while he was active in his union. He was great guy - thoughtful and always wanting to come up with solutions that treated everyone fairly. It was an honor to work with him.

I don't know what to say that will give you any comfort. So many people love Dave, you and the kids. I hope you lean on your friends and family for support. We are all here for you. There are so many positive and fun things about Dave to keep alive. He is an original.
