Emma Nelson Obituary
Chatham, IL—Emma Anne Nelson, nee Faist, 29, of Chatham, IL, born February 1992, in Belleville, IL, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021; at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL due to complications following childbirth.
Emma attended Belleville East High School and graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's in hospitality management. She pursued many work passions managing food and beverage for Saint Louis University and Washington University. She moved to Chatham, Illinois where she started working for Bunn-O-Matic in 2017. In 2019 she married her husband, Seth Nelson. She sought out many volunteer opportunities with Habitat for Humanity and sacrificed a Thanksgiving at home to cook on board a Navy ship. She loved hosting family and friends at her home, the Lake of the Ozarks, and anywhere where the people she cared about gathered. She enjoyed music and played guitar. Her interests go on to include golf, cooking, lazy mornings, Siamese cats, traveling, and true crime documentaries.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Norma J. Graebe and paternal grandfather, David E. Faist.
Surviving are her husband, Seth R. Nelson of Chatham, IL; son, Jack Robert Nelson; parents, Stephen and Nancy, nee Graebe, Faist of Key Largo, FL; brother, William (Serina) Faist of Bentonville, AR; twin-sister, Charlotte Faist of Belleville, IL; maternal grandfather, Robert H. Graebe of Belleville, IL; paternal grandmother, Anne E. Faist of Belleville, IL; mother and father in-law, Joan and Robert Nelson of Pawnee, IL; grandmothers-in-law, Rita Nelson of Auburn, IL and Eulalia Zumberger of Anna, OH.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nelson Family for the care and education of Jack. Please make checks payable to Seth Nelson.
Visitation: Visitation from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Kurrus Funeral Home with Fr. Charles Edwards officiating. Interment at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.

Emma was one of the first people I met at Mizzou. We both lived in North Hall, and we quickly became friends. Throughout my time at Mizzou, Emma was such a great friend. The nicest, most caring person. We even went on Spring Break together Junior year! She had such a fun, giving personality and a laugh that lit up a room. Seth, I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad I had the opportunity to watch Emma grow up into a beautiful young lady. So happy for her and where she was in her life. Emma brought the best out of everyone. Her daily concern for her co-workers was obvious. She looked out for all of us. This is a tremendous loss. I can only imagine how hard this is for her family. I am so sorry.

Our hearts are shattered that Emma returned to heaven much too soon. As Sam Maready´s Mother and Father in Law we only met Emma once at the Sam and Michael´s wedding and loved her instantly. We know that Sam and Emma were best friends and grew up together. We all hurt for her loss. Please know we are saying Prayers of Comfort and Love for all of Emma´s family and treasured friends.
