SPRINGFIELD, IL - Eric Nicholas Noyes, 46, of Springfield, died at 12:07 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center.
Eric was born in Springfield on Aug. 16, 1969, the son of John G. and June C. Noyes.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1974, and both maternal and fraternal grandparents.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1988 and Lincoln Land Community College in 1992 with an associate's degree in science.
He was a newspaper carrier for the State Journal-Register from 1983-1995 and was employed by Goodwill Industries from 1992-2000.
Eric lived in several nursing homes from 2000-2009. He returned home in April of 2009 where he remained until October of 2014. During this time, he was cared for by his father. From October of 2014 until he was hospitalized, he lived at Prairie Village Nursing Home in Jacksonville.
Eric was a stamp collector. He enjoyed doing jigsaw, crossword and word search puzzles, and playing chess and rummy. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV. His favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and St. Louis Blues.
Eric is survived by his father, John G. Noyes of Springfield; brother, Andrew G. Noyes (companion, Susan M. Lamb) of Rochester; two nieces, Lexie and Maddie Noyes of Springfield; one uncle, Dr. Russell Noyes, Jr. (wife, Martie) of Iowa City, Iowa; and three cousins: Margie, Nancy and James.
Cremation care was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
