Ernest Blair

BEARDSTOWN - Ernest "Buster" Blair, 85, of Beardstown died at his residence at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007.

He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Cass County to Leta Blair. He married Letitia Lynn on July 22, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo. She survives.

Mr. Blair is survived by his wife of Beardstown; a son, Lynn Allen (Kay) Blair of Waupaca, Wis.; four grandchildren; a half sister, Betty Jo (Clint) Ruppel of Petersburg; and a half brother, Richard Garner of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Sue Shoemaker.

Mr. Blair was a member of the Beardstown Elks Club, where he enjoyed playing cards. He served in the Army during World War II with the 43rd Infantry in the South Pacific. He worked for CIPS for 40 years as a lineman and later a supervisor, retiring at age 65.

Visitation will be held at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. with graveside services following at Chandlerville Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chandlerville Cemetery or the donor's choice.

Buster was one of the few really nice guys at CIPS. I worked for him and had great respect for him. He will be missed but remembered by many. My sympathy to his family.
